Any running generation can be stopped with the Stop control in the Studio chat.

What happens when you cancel

  1. The AI receives the stop signal and winds the session down — you’ll briefly see a “stopping” state while it does.
  2. The chat confirms: “Generation cancelled — you were only charged for the work completed before you stopped.”
  3. Your game keeps whatever the AI finished before the stop. Partial work (files written, assets generated) stays in the project; you can build on it, prompt over it, or revert to the previous version.

What you’re charged

Exactly the AI work done up to the cancel — metered from the AI’s actual usage at the normal rates, same as any other outcome. Cancelling early in a build costs little; cancelling at the 95% mark costs about as much as letting it finish. There is no cancellation fee and no full-run charge. See Failed & cancelled generations for the policy in detail.

When cancelling makes sense

  • Wrong direction, caught early — the progress feed shows the AI heading somewhere you don’t want. Stop, refine the prompt, go again.
  • You forgot something important — stop, add it to the prompt, resend. (For additional thoughts, consider just queueing the follow-up instead — the current build finishes and the queue handles the rest.)

If a generation seems stuck

A build showing no progress for a long time is better handled by cancel + retry than by waiting indefinitely. If a session refuses to cancel or a game stays stuck in “generating”, see Troubleshooting.
