Make a copy copies one of your games into a new project you own. Use it to branch an experiment (“what if this were multiplayer?”) without risking the original.

Making a copy

You’ll find Make a copy in three places:
  • Studio menu → Make a copy
  • Your game’s settings: Preferences → Make a copy
  • The menu on the game’s card in My Games
The copy opens in the Studio as a new game named “your game’s name (Copy)”. Rename it whenever you like.
  • The copy has the game itself: all files, assets, and build state.
  • It starts as a draft: it isn’t published until you publish it.
  • Making a copy is free. Prompts you send to the copy afterwards are billed like any other build.
  • The original stays exactly as it is.
  • A game can be copied once its first build has finished.

Who can make a copy

  • Only a game’s creator can copy it. You can’t copy another person’s game, and nobody else can copy yours. Collaborators can’t copy a game they don’t own.
  • Tesana staff can make a copy of a game when they need one for support (for example, to reproduce a problem). The original isn’t changed.

Remixes made before 9 October 2026

Tesana used to let people remix other creators’ games. That ended on 9 October 2026.
  • Games that were remixed before then stay as ordinary games in their owners’ accounts.
  • Store pages and game cards no longer show who a game was remixed from or how many times it was remixed.
  • The Allow remixing setting is gone from game settings; there’s nothing to turn on or off.

Copies and source export

Source export is not available for copies, including copies of your own games. Source export is reserved for original games. Standalone builds (web/desktop) still export fine. See Exports and Ownership & IP.
