Adding multiplayer

Multiplayer is something you build into a game, like any other feature. Either:
  • Ask for it — “add online multiplayer for 2–4 players with a lobby”, or use the Add multiplayer suggestion in the Studio composer; or
  • Use the add-on — the Online Multiplayer add-on in the Studio’s Add-ons tab (real-time online play with a lobby and room codes) sends the right prompt for you.
The AI wires the game to Tesana’s multiplayer service: players create or join rooms, and games that need it can share a persistent world (monsters, loot) between everyone in it. There are no servers for you to run.
Say what kind of multiplayer you want: co-op or versus, how many players per room, and whether players join by room code or a public list. It shapes the whole design, so it’s cheaper to decide early than to retrofit.

How players join

Players open your game’s play link — the store page, a web address, or a share link — and join a room from inside the game.
  • Signed-in players can play online right away.
  • Signed-out visitors can play too: they join rooms as guests. Features tied to an account — cloud saves, purchases, leaderboard ranks — need them to sign in.

Testing multiplayer

Open the game in two browser windows (or on your phone and your computer) and join the same room. Testing with a friend on a collaborator account works too.

Web addresses

Every game can have its own short web address on tesana.com — for example https://yourgame.tesana.com — that you can share anywhere.
  1. Open Settings → Information and find Web address.
  2. Hit Claim address and pick a name (3–63 letters, numbers, or dashes).
  3. Copy it, change it, or remove it any time.
This is separate from the Custom URL, which sets your store page link at tesana.ai/game/your-name. Paid plans include unlimited web addresses.
